Marc Garrison

"I create images because it is a reflection of my thoughts and feelings. When the process is going well, ideas seem to burst out of my head. I'm filled with a sense of energy and total concentrated effort. When a piece turns out well, it conveys some of the elements that I wish to convey to the viewers. Color, pattern, reflection, solitude, simplicity, and passion. "

When Marc Garrison works with photography, he is reminded that nature affords such splendid opportunities to explore wonderful images. He makes a determination of what images to capture based on intuition, wandering around an area until an object jumps out and says "capture me." He likes to isolate a distinct object that is linked to its background in a subtle manner.

Garrison uses a Nikon D700 camera with a macro lens to capture some of his images. He shoots landscapes and brings them into his computer--then the fun begins. He merges several of the images together using various digital filters and blending modes in Photoshop. He also uses a digital Polaroid technique that is very unique. Prints are made on archival matte paper on an Epson 3800 printer.

Garrison has worked in photography for many years. He has studied at Wayne State and the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, and has taken various workshops at Palm Beach Photo workshops. He teaches digital photography at various venues in the Detroit area.
