Richard Judd Furniture Ltd.
When the Dalai Lama came to visit south-central Wisconsin, he slept in a cherry bed that Richard Judd made. Judd's goal is to create artwork that reflects the meditative process of creation as well as the unique beauty and contributions of the human mind, heart, and hand. In other words, the spirit of the maker.
Judd's efforts are guided by the orders of architecture (in which he has a degree and many years of training) and the proportions of nature. With a bit of the spirit of the divine tossed in for good measure.
Richard Judd received a BS degree in architecture from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. After working in architecture and the building trades, he formed his own business as a designer and craftsman in 1983 in historic Paoli, Wisconsin. He created Zazen Gallery in 1997, a furniture showroom and exhibit space for fellow contemporary artists in all media.
