T.W. Wolff

Thomas Wolff

" A work of art comprised of answers is a decoration. Art lives when it asks questions."

Thomas Wolff's work is eclectic. Themes and style are a result, not the goal. He is fascinated by paradox and the connections between disparate subjects. Whether the theme is parrots, apes, or Iconography, the artist's work addresses the thin veil between Realism and the Surreal, and between the Spiritual and the Mundane.

Wolff works with a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, pastel, and sculpted pieces formed of fiberglass, brass, and wood. Individual works often combine abstract and realist themes. Each piece creates its own demands. The portrait, 'Eclectus' required practice on a separate canvas of a glancing free-hand brush stroke in order to create the unique arc and flow of the birds fine head feathers.

The artist is largely self-taught, and for twenty-five years, has been a partner in Favette & Wolff, LLC - a fine art and mural firm.
