Kim Dills

"I create works using oil, acrylic, and dye on various domestic and exotic hardwoods to bring color, pattern and nature to my paintings."

Kim is inspired by nature, symbolism and pattern. Her background is in illustration, design and fiber arts. Using wood as her canvas allows the grain of the wood to become a design element amongst the pattern and subject matter.

All works are created on wood. Layering and routing of the wood creates texture and depth. All frames are created by peg joinery. The use of mixed media in oil, acrylic and dye create a multi-layered effect against the patterns.

Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a background in design and illustration and a love for fabrics and pattern which is the foundation for her current work.
