Jade and Cream Striped Murrine Bowl

Art Glass Bowl

Created by Karen Wallace
Sheets of glass in shades of vanilla, jade, and spring green are stacked, heated until molten, and hand-pulled to form the glass rods that compose this kiln-formed and slumped glass bowl.

Once pulled, the rods are snipped into cross-sections called murrini and placed to create a pattern that follows the flow of color as it emerges within the rods. The shifting and blooming of color as the murrini settle and expand evokes a bed of sea anemones.
