Two Nesting Bowls with Thin Ruffled Edges
Art Glass Bowls
Created by Marianne Thompson
Hand-drawn linear pattern is fused into glass, then slumped. The slumping process used to create the wavy edges results in a slightly irregular, organic shape. Each piece is a combination of various shades and sizes of powder, frit and sheet glass. The mix of glass creates a rich, matte surface with areas of translucency revealing the layers below. The smaller bowl is a dark shade of carnelian with closely spaced, black and gold colored lines, accented by carnelian, red and clear glass speckles. The larger bowl is a paler shade of the same color with lines more widely spaced. Individual bowl thickness is approximately 1/8" (4mm). Because each piece is unique, size will vary slightly.
