Gregg Mesmer and Diane Bonciolini

Mesolini Glass Studio

"Our dishware is fully functional, made to be used and enjoyed for all occasions"

Having worked in glass since the mid-1970s, Mesmer and Bonciolini founded Mesolini Glass Studio in 1977 on Bainbridge Island, Washington. They are a partnership in every sense of the word: both a married couple and artistic collaborators. Both artists have a hand in all the work that comes out of their studio.

The techniques Mesmer and Bonciolini use are varied, including fused glass, glass combined with concrete, stained glass, glass paired with metal, and mosaic. Their beautiful, functional glass dinnerware is kiln fired from iridescent glass. Dramatic scallops decorate some pieces, while others have a distinctive cut-off edge, which is not only a studio signature, but is also trademarked through the U.S. Patent Office.

Primarily self-taught, Mesmer and Bonciolini have attended Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, and Pratt Fine Arts Center. Their public art can be found in communities throughout Washington, and they have created countless private commissions over the years. They are currently instructors in the glass studio at the Bainbridge Artisans Resource Network (BARN). In 2015, they were awarded the honor of "Island Treasures" by the Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council, an award given to people who enrich the community through their involvement in the arts and humanities.
