Fireworks Platter
Art Glass Platter
Created by
Karen Wallace
An arrow design of intricately patterned glass cane bisects the rippling flow of an aperture pour of threaded, pumpkin-colored glass on this fused glass platter.
The artist creates the murrini design by heating a crucible of glass to 1500 degrees and pulling the molten glass into rods using a modern-day adaptation of the 16th-century techniques of the Murano glassmakers. The piece is kiln-slumped to achieve a gently curved silhouette.
