Art Glass Platter

Created by Karen Wallace
Delicate glass threads flow over a circle of iridescent vanilla and into a field of multicolored murrini, giving this shallow, kiln-formed glass platter an effect that’s at once lively and refined.

The piece is made using a modern-day adaptation of the 16th-century techniques honed by Murano glassmakers, where sheets of glass are stacked, heated until molten, and hand pulled to form the glass rods that compose the vibrant design.

Once pulled, the rods are snipped into cross sections and placed to create a pattern that follows the flow of color as it emerges within the rods.

Stand not included.

Hand wash.
