Under the Microscope

Art Glass Platter

Created by Karen Wallace
This glass bowl offers a pattern reminiscent of cells viewed under a microscope, with individual black glass threads revealed in the cross-sections of hand-pulled glass cane.

Across the middle, curved threads swoop and intersect, making a visual connection to the murrini core. The pattern of murrini as it moves around the bowl reveals a chronology of the glass cane as it emerged from the crucible.

The individual pieces are arranged and kiln fused into a single sheet before being slumped on a custom form.

Food safe, hand wash.
