Aqua, Gold, and Hyacinth Foglio

Art Glass Sculpture

Created by David Patchen
Rated 5 based on 1 customer reviews
Masterful and breathtaking, this blown glass vessel is created using the technically demanding murrini technique. Patchen creates dozens of patterned glass tiles and composes them into a mosaic, fuses them, and begins the blowing process. He switches the hot glass pattern from one blow pipe to another to create the flower-like patterns.

This foglio is composed of murrini with bands of transparent hyacinth and gold around a center of aquamarine. Fine white borders frame the patterns throughout. This piece has a flattened profile and is double-encased in clear glass for great depth, optics, and stability.

All of Patchen's pieces have flat satin-finished bases. While Museum Wax is recommended for added security, for ultimate stability, this piece may be purchased with a permanently bonded clear glass base. Optional base is .75"H, 5"SQ.
