Art Glass Sculpture
Created by Demetra Theofanous
Golden hour - that time of day when the sun captures the earth's glow - is reflected in this one of a kind sculpture created in glass. This collaborative work between Dean Bensen and Demetra Theofanous, features a variety of glass techniques. The tree trunk is blown glass, that is then hand carved and acid etched. This creates an amazing surface texture that captures the light and enhances the glow of the piece, as if the light comes from within. The birds egg is blown on the torch using the flameworking process. The sculpture rests on a stone base, with glass leaves. The leaves are created using the ancient casting technique of pate de verre - a very detailed and painterly process of working with glass, to create detailed and realistic looking sculptures.
