I Went to the Beach
Art Glass Sculpture
Created by Alice Benvie Gebhart
The artist used various glass and mixed-media techniques in this glass house sculpture. She used imagery and symbols close to her heart and her memories to show the significance of home and heritage. The writing "I went to the beach" was taken from a school paper, written in a child's hand. The window of the house contains childhood treasures: a starfish, a girl scout patch for swimming, and an attendance star. The memories of the beach as a child is portrayed in this very personal glass sculpture.
