Lodi Appellation

Art Glass Sculpture

Created by Mira Woodworth
Named for the wine grape growing region from which this sculpture was created, Lodi Appellation is an artful combination of kiln formed reclaimed glass finished in grape and violet tones and metallic foil. Each piece undergoes an extensive multi-step process. Attention is given to creating dramatic undulations and small voids.

Each sculpture includes a raw steel stand that is individually welded to artfully display the sculpture. The steel stand will develop surface rust over time creating an artful juxtaposition between the stand and the glossy surface of the glass. The steel stand is intended to change over time, gradually darkening and achieving small amounts of surface rust. It is possible to achieve the surface rust sooner; simply wipe the stand with a damp sponge periodically without drying to introduce water. The stand will arrive with felt pads attached to the bottom to protect furniture surfaces from the raw metal.

To clean, dust with a moist cloth. Avoid allowing water or any other liquid to seep into the texture of the piece as it may dislodge metal leafing if allowed to soak.
