Mixed Murrini Sphere

This spectacular blown glass sculpture from the artist’s Sphere series is created using the challenging murrini technique. Patchen first creates hundreds of patterned glass tiles and composes them into a mosaic, then fuses them together and begins the blowing process. The piece is blown entirely freehand without the use of molds, evidencing Patchen's mastery of these techniques.

Crisp details and vibrant colors are hallmarks of the artist’s work. Each uniqueSphere in this series features a breathtaking array of colorful murrini and cane that the artist has created over a period of weeks. The piece has great presence and is double-encased in clear glass for depth, optics, and stability.
