South Beach Aztec Compote
Art Glass Sculpture
Created by
Michael Egan
This is one of Egan's masterpieces, a tour de force in offhand studio glass. The top of the compote is made from fused and slumped glass canes that have been altered to create various symbols. The midsection and the base are blown glass parts made from the same cane material. The palette and design are meant to evoke a synthesis of Miami pastels and Mayan symbology. This centerpiece is a fantastical rendering of a sacred platter for some unknown ritual or ceremony. Totally unique and exciting this piece could grace the table of any wonderful home. .
