White Vortex

Art Glass Vase

Created by James Friedberg
This vessel is part of a series that explores light, color, line, and form through glass, drawing inspiration from natural phenomena and the scientific charts and graphs explaining these phenomena.

In white and clear glass, this vessel was created using traditional Venetian glassblowing techniques, including cane or filigrana, a technique used to apply linear patterns to glass. The cane has been treated in such a way that it creates overlapping patterns, which are not typically seen with traditional cane techniques.

This piece has a thick clear base that gives it the appearance of floating. The outer shapes create clear windows that accentuate the overlapping white lines.
