Art Glass Vessel(ID: A96909)
This spectacular blown glass vessel from the artist's Foglio series is created using the challenging murrini technique. Patchen uses both hot and cold glassworking processes to create hundreds of patterned glass tiles, composes them into a mosaic, then fuses them together and begins the blowing process.
This one-of-a-kind piece features murrini created from tens of thousands of fine glass threads of white, daffodil, cherry and hyacinth. Random clear windows and rings of cherry surround centers of saturated daffodil. This sizable sculpture has great presence and a sleek, flattened profile. It is double-encased in clear glass for depth, optics, and stability.
