Jade, Cerulean & Gold Foglio
Art Glass Vessel
This spectacular blown glass vessel from the artist's Foglio series is created using the challenging murrini technique. Patchen uses both hot and cold glassworking processes to create hundreds of patterned glass tiles, composes them into a mosaic, then fuses them together and begins the blowing process.
This one-of-a-kind piece features murrini created with thousands of white threads covered in jade, gold, cerulean and amethyst glass. Sporadic windows of lime are ringed by white glass. This sizable sculpture has great presence and a sleek, flattened profile. It is double-encased in clear glass for depth, optics, and stability.
All of Patchen's pieces are stable with gently flared, satin-finished bottoms. For extra security, Museum Wax or Gel provides a very firm hold. For earthquake-prone, marine or public spaces, this piece may be purchased permanently bonded to a clear (Starphire) glass base. Optional base is 5" x 5" x 3/4".
