Zyma Vartovyy (Winter Sentinel)

Large, sculptural blown glass vessel and fitted glass stopper with hot-sculpted branch lid. The Zyma Vartovyy series is inspired by winter in Eastern Europe. A frost-shrouded mottled background of pale ivory is contrasted by calligraphic lines accented with dappled spots of autumn's last colors. Satin matte finished vessel form is completed with a matte black lipwrap on the top and a sturdy matte black solid glass base for balance. A hand-sculpted glass lid with a matching motif finishes the piece. Zyma Vartovyy (Winter Sentinel) is the first offering from the artist of a larger sculptural lid on a painterly base.
