Art Glass Wall Sculpture

Part of the artist's ''Sunday Drive'' series, this kiln-worked fused glass panel is a look back into Gebhart's childhood, remembering those magical sunday drives with her family; Climbing into the family car, rolling down the windows and heading off for a scenic adventure.

As an artist, Gebhart strives to visually communicate using kiln-fired glass. She uses her memories and experiences as motivation and inspirations in her creations. Like a memory, the glass first exists as a hard and brittle medium. The fluid nature of the melting glass adds an energy and organic quality that can be seen as a transformation, in medium and idea. After cutting the colored glass, layering it, then putting it in the kiln, the colors combine, as if the glass is reborn. Upon opening the kiln a new creation has evolved. This piece depicts an image during the artist's childhood. Memories are transformed and often exaggerated in the final story. How we remember events, places and people is subjective and alters with our own perceptions. Her artistic account of this special time has evolved and then been re-envisioned in fused glass.

The glass panel is raise mounted on textured wood and framed.
