Floating Downstream

Art Glass Wall Sculpture

Created by Martha Pfanschmidt
Clear sheets of glass with colored glass powders are layered to create this abstract image of boats floating downstream. Inspired by a summer raft and kayak trip, the clear glass allows the shadows of the boat shapes to reflect off the surface of your wall. Small bits of glass stringer are tacked onto the satin surface of the glass piece. Four "L" screws are provided for attaching it to a sturdy wall, allowing the piece to "float" about one inch from the wall. Since the piece is on clear glass this causes the colored glass powder shapes to cast dancing shadows on the wall.
