Art Glass Wall Sculpture
Created by Gerald Davidson
This portrait titled "Sierra's Aura" was influenced by the model's claim that her aura was the color purple and hence, Davidson's choice of colors. As with all his portraits, this one began with a photo shoot with a local model. After selecting the image that he would use, he then hand drew the portrait onto a large lightweight backer board. The next step was to select and cut the glass to fit the hand drawn image. Davidson used a combination of traditional stained glass fabrication techniques (cutting and grinding the glass to fit the pattern) and mosaic methods. The final part of the process was to grout the entire piece. It is framed in a black floating frame and is ready to hang.
