Black and Red Floral Bowl
One of a Kind
The original model for this shape was turned on a plaster wheel, from which a casting form was made. The casting form is one piece which enables the piece to be cast without seams, which often cannot otherwise be eradicated from the final form. The shape is sculpted by hand by the artist while each is still in its form. The resulting shape is graceful and fluid, yet both visually and physically light. Each bowl is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F and emerges from the final firing (at about 2100 degrees F) a lightweight (approximately 2-3 pounds) yet sturdy vessel that together form a gracefully pleasing work of decorative ceramic art.
