Porcelain Leafy Lidded Box
Created by Carol Barclay
This miniature porcelain lidded box can be used to hold a tiny exquisite bouquet of flowers and bring some beauty to the smallest space. Or, you could put a candle taper in it and surround it with a few flowers for a lovely, low scale centerpiece. The hand built fluted porcelain piece is covered in a pearly white glaze with three dimensional, dotted leaves curving around the form. The leaves have multiple layers of under glazes, creating a rich effect of pale aqua, turquoise and chartreuse with purple accents. The rim of the lidded vase is textured and finished in turquoise with purple indentations. The lid is a textured medallion in the same purple with highlights of magenta and turquoise. The whole piece is covered in a pearly white glaze and fired to over 2200 degrees F.
