Textured Spirit Urn

This texturally rich hand-built urn conveys tranquil, organic simplicity. The highly textured bottom surface is scraped and burnished by hand while bone dry, giving it an ancient, stone-like texture. A green underglaze is applied to the lid for a warm finish. Stains and oxides applied in the final firing bring out the nuances in the varying surface textures.
