There are Strengths in Our Differences

Ceramic Sculpture

(ID: A6955)
Created by Cathy Broski
The artist uses the boat as a metaphor for our life's journey and the bird for the voice within that keeps us on the right track. Each handcrafted couple sit within a cone in the hollow block of clay. The antique blue glaze fades onto the highly textured golden clay bodies. Each set is made individually from slabs and coils. The waves are layered with slips and terra sigillatas. Each piece is unique and will vary.

Comments about There are Strengths in Our Differences:

I am giving this to my partner for his birthday, and to me it represents who we are. We are very strong together-we work through our challenges and embrace all of the wonderful people and things we share in our lives. We also love to sail, and our relationship became even stronger when we learned to sail 50' mono-hulls together. I will let you know what he thinks when he opens it on 3/27.

Comments about There are Strengths in Our Differences:

It was the perfect gift on the occasion of my niece's wedding. I was only a bit disappointed that in "real life" it lacked the gold luster as shown in the photo. Not to worry, I added more gold myself using acrylic paint and it was a hit! My niece and her husband display it on their mantle.
