Transcendence: Winged Figure
Ceramic Sculpture(ID: A11366)
The artist uses wings as a symbol, and as a metaphor of having risen above life's hurdles. The figure is highly textured to represent the scarring of our journey through life. The wings are made from porcelain, and attached after firing. A special process using real feathers and a porcelain slip give the wings a distressed or weathered look. Due to these techniques each piece will very in color and texture. Each piece is made individually by the artist.
Celebrate an extraordinary accomplishment with this winged figure. The artist uses wings as a symbol of freedom to rise above the ordinary in all things spiritual, mental, and physical.
Several surface treatments, handmade slips and glazes are used to give the piece a distressed or weathered look. The cracks that naturally occur in this process are filled with an epoxy and do not continue through the entirety of the wing. Due to these techniques each piece will very in color and texture. Each piece is made individually by the artist and is on a mettle stand .

Comments about Transcendence: Winged Figure:
I have 4 other pieces by this artist and all were perfect. I realize that each piece will be slightly different, but this one was very different from what was pictured. The body was not tilted and the wings came to 1 point instead of 2 creating a totally different look. It almost looks like the wrong body was used since there were 2 styles to choose from. However, this would not keep me from buying more from this artist. I do love her work.
