Lines and Dots Table

Ceramic Side Table

Created by Larry Halvorsen
These stoneware tables are constructed using a variation of the coil technique and built upside down. When the table is dried to what is known as leather hard, the surface is smoothed and painted with three coats of black glaze. When the glaze is dry enough to handle the design is carved using the sgrafitto method which involves cutting through the black glaze today reveal the white clay body. The piece is then fired in a natural gas kiln to 2200 degrees. The tables are durable and can used outdoors and are sometimes purchased as stools.

Outdoor Care:
This piece can be displayed outdoors year-round in mild climates only. In colder climates, bring indoors during winter to avoid damage due to freezing temperatures.
