Rug Pattern Table

This square, coil-built ceramic end table is decorated with a design inspired by classic woven rugs. The hand-built form in white stoneware clay is first coated with multiple layers of black glaze, and then the pattern is created using the sgraffito technique, in which the artist carves through the glaze to reveal the white clay beneath.
