Passion Flower Vine Teapot with Birds
Created by Suzanne Crane
Call this Tea for Ten or Scotch for Thirty, it's one big teapot. Impressed with the real leaves and vine of passion flower, then glazed in copper celadon and black, it would make it's own bold statement as is; but it is further adorned with two clay sculptures of starlings, mere sketches in clay, capturing birdish gestures. The artist modeled the starlings on Japanese sumi-e ink brush paintings of birds. The teapot is functional, but too large to be practical.
