Horsehair Memorial Urn
One of a Kind
This piece was thrown on the potter's wheel from porcelain clay. After bisque firing, a clay slip was applied and burnished and then the urn was re-fired to 1050 degrees F. Removed hot from the kiln, horsetail hair and feathers were applied immediately, leaving a distinct and unique pattern of carbon trails. Then an iron solution was sprayed on the piece, giving it its rust red color. No two pieces are ever alike. This urn has a volume of approximately 200 cubic inches.
