"Melemele," which means yellow in Hawaiian, is a hand built stoneware vase, made by using pinching and coiling techniques. The outside was carefully textured, then colored underglazes were applied before the first firing. A glaze was applied on the inside before the second firing, to add color contrast and functionality. The slight slant is intentional to depict motion and balance. The piece can safely be washed in dish soap or even in the dishwasher.
