Vivid Yellow and Blue Abstract Vase

Ceramic Vase

Created by Jean Elton
The original model for this shape was turned on a plaster wheel, from which a casting form was made. The casting form is one piece, enabling the final work to be cast without seams, which often cannot be otherwise eradicated from the final form. The resulting shape makes a strong impression yet is both visually and physically light. The work is fired to approximately 1800 degrees F and then hand decorated by the artist, using underglazes applied with bold brush strokes and fine-tipped bottles. The object emerges from the final firing which requires approximately 2100 degrees F to take the work to its final form: a lightweight (approximately 5 pounds), yet sturdy vessel that can be used as an elegant vase or as a standalone, purely decorative work of ceramic art. The dry matte finish (without an overglaze) makes this colorful piece particularly vibrant. Each is unique and will vary. The unique serial number found on the bottom of each Jean Elton piece is reflected on the certificate of authenticity provided.
