Thrown and Altered Porcelain Vessel

Ceramic Vessel

The basic globular form was wheel thrown thrown by the artist, then sculpted and altered while still wet. After the piece was fired to 2300F, multiple layers of a specially formulated pure white glaze were brushed onto the vitreous clay.

Black ceramic stain was rubbed into the glaze to accent the curvaceous form and variegated rim. It was fired again to melt and meld the glaze and stain to the vessel, and to create the unique crackle surface which is enhanced post firing with a carbon rich ink.
