Ceramic Wall Sculpture
Created by Gail McCarthy
A bold abstraction done in glowing luster gold, vibrant blues and black/bronze interlaced line drawings. This piece has been created using 13th Century techniques where lustered golds were valued by Persian Caliphs as being equal to gold itself. This work has been layered with glazes and has been reduction- fired many times in a complex process which develops its luminous depth and high relief. The piece is created on a single 18 x 18 tile and has been adhered to rigid board, and contains a simple interlocking bracket system for hanging on any wall. This work is impervious to strong sunlight.
