Early Iris

Ceramic Wall Art

Created by Kristi Sloniger
These free form tiles are hand-built and decorated while still wet using the mocha diffusion technique. The artist applies other colored clay in a liquid state that absorbs directly into the tile. They are then dried and fired in her gas reduction kiln. The tiles are mounted on a wood frame with industrial strength epoxy for easy hanging. The more minimalistic approach on this work really allows the detail to shine. With this work the background frame is very subtle and lets the work "float" on the wall.
