Luster painting as a Mandala, with glowing satin gold lusters intertwined with matte and gloss blues and blacks. The glaze and firing methods used date from the 13th century, when gold luster was prized by Persian Caliphs as equal to gold itself. This piece was created on one single 18 x 18inch tile, it was put through a complex series of firings, as the glazes were layered to achieve depth and a rich, luminous presence. The painting is adhered to rigid board and has a simple bracket system to hang on any wall, with locking bracket included.
