Ceramic Wall Sculpture
Created by Rod Hemming
Inspired from a still life. This piece is made from approximately 0.5'' x 0.5'' handmade tiles. The image is first drawn and then each tile is handmade individually. Every tile has an individual texture and is colored separately according to the counts taken from the drawing. The tiles are bisque fired at cone 04 and then under glazed in three layers, clear glazed, and fired at cone 05. Once all tiles are fired, they are then laid out according to the drawing and then adhered to a board. This wall sculpture contains 440 tiles and has a dark gray frame that is hand painted by the artist. Size of the sculpture is 13.25"W x 14.5"H framed. This is a one of a kind piece and is signed and numbered by the artist on the back.
