Primary Ying and Yang Optix Wall Platter

Ceramic Wall Sculpture

Created by Vaughan Nelson
This slab-built wall piece is created by slumping a large piece of clay over a hump mold. A foot ring is then attached and the piece is left to firm up. Once firm, the piece is removed from the mold and is embellished with the circular textured pieces and left to dry. After being fired once, the piece is decorated with the artist's "Optix" pattern and fired a second time.

The inside of this is then glazed with a clear glaze and fired for a third time. This piece is fitted with wire on the back for easy hanging. This wire can be carefully removed and the piece can be used as a functional table piece. Each one will vary slightly in size and pattern.
