About this Artist
"My philosophy as a photographer is best stated by the French impressionist Edgar Degas who said "Art is not about what you see, but what you make others see." What the object is, or where it is located, is less important to me than how it makes you feel. The right combination of light, surfaces, and composition makes that happen. "
Photographer Jim Bremer describes his work as mining for diamonds. You have to sort through tons of dirt to extract a single gem, which is carefully cut and polished, and ultimately becomes a valued possession with emotional attachment.
Bremer's process gives his images a hand-made look and feel. Central to this process is a Waycom tablet featuring an electronic drawing pen/brush. He prints the images on Velvet Fine Art Paper, an archival quality substrate that resembles watercolor paper. Nine separate inks including four variations of black are used in a printing process that produces great depth and rich quality.
Bremer received his formal training in art, design, and photography at Missouri State. His photography is driven by a desire to create unique work of the highest possible quality. Experimentation and discovery are the driving forces behind his style.
It takes time to make great artwork. Most of the pieces we offer are created one at a time by the artist, and shipped directly to you from the artist’s studio.
