Nicolette Absil

"I am drawn to the beautiful and powerful imagery in nature."

Working to build layers and subtle surface texture, Nicolette Absil uses vitreous enamel to illustrate serene and delicate imagery. She is drawn to the ways that complex objects, such as those found in nature, can be portrayed minimally, yet still have a strong impact.

Nicolette Absil's work focuses on vitreous enameling, a technique of fusing glass to metal. She forms and cuts metal structures, then fuses several thin layers of glass onto them. Absil carefully draws delicate natural imagery on the surface and fuses it in, often playing with the surface texture of the glass. Finally, she fabricates the metal work to frame each piece.

Nicolette received her BFA from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, and has since studied with several jewelry artists.
