Copper Cathead Basket
Created by Jackie Abrams
If you turn a cathead basket upside down, you will see the cat's ears. If it were a functional basket meant to carry a lot of weight, the shape of the base would help to distribute the weight out to the sides of the basket. In this piece, it's a shape that makes the basket more graceful and aesthetically pleasing. This copper colored basket, deliberately meant to be more sculptural, is woven of painted cotton paper.
