Fiber Wall Hanging
Created by Cindy Grisdela
"Blooming" is a celebration of line and shape, designed improvisationally from cotton fabric without a preconceived pattern. Each decision about color and shape influences the next, a little bit like jazz music. The artist challenged herself to work large, cutting the curves freehand without using templates. Creating lines and shapes directly out of fabric is liberating, engaging Grisdela in a dialogue with her materials. The final touch is the texture created by the free motion stitching, pulling the composition into a cohesive whole. Freehand quilted on a home sewing machine using a variety of motifs. Variegated cotton thread used in quilting. Hanging sleeve and rod included. Easily hangs from two small nails in the wall. Avoid direct sunlight. Use a lint roller for light cleaning.
