LineScape No.39 (Country Grid)

Fiber Wall Hanging

Created by Ayn Hanna
"Country Grid" is the latest piece in the artist's ongoing "LineScape" series of textile paintings inspired by maps of real and imagined places. The name of the series highlights the importance of the drawn/stitched line quality in her work. Stitching/drawing with thread is a slow meditative practice, just right for these times of (self) isolation. Inspired by an aerial photograph, the land is sparsely marked and dotted with subtle crevices, shadows, rough roads, and tracks. Memories of travel through the heartland where one can go all day without seeing another person or even a sign of wildlife. When you let your mind go, you can imagine you might be the only one left on the planet.

Multiple pieces of artist hand-dyed and printed fabrics combined with repurposed vintage linen along with detailed hand and machine stitching create textured layers of color and thread drawing to intuitively complete the work. The piece has a hanging sleeve on the back and comes with a hanging rod for easy display. Signed on back.
