Giclee print on heavy, archival paper. From an original oil on canvas. Paper size has three-inch deckled borders on each side. Signed at bottom right and numbered at bottom left. Limited edition of 195 with 15 artist proofs.
With "Hidden Sunset", the artist wanted to convey a scene that takes place after the brightest part of the sunset. Since the suns glare is reduced, the land and the cloud forms yield more detail in layer after layer.
It is amazing to work on the clouds and land in this way. The slightest change in color or shape can have a profound effect. The uppermost cloud section changed numerous times, much like cloud watching. The clouds would change slightly each time new paint was applied. There were a number of instances when the cloud was painting itself, yielding new forms and I was the watcher.
It was an interesting experience that the artist really didn't want to end but finally, all the shapes and colors came together it a way that accommodated the last light of the sun but just enough to add intensity to the colors everywhere.
