Carved Ruby Ring

Gold, Silver & Stone Ring

Created by Nancy Troske
Of all the colored gemstones rubies are probably the most highly valued. Large rubies can fetch higher prices than equivalently sized diamonds. For centuries, ruby has been the choice of royalty. Ruby is second in hardness only to diamonds. It is a variety of corundum, deriving its red color from chromium. Corundum in other colors is classified as sapphire. In Europe and Asia this is often considered a pink sapphire due to it being on a pinker side of corundum.

This unique ruby has a skillfully carved flower pattern in the top of the cabochon. The beauty of the stone is further enhanced by the rich yellow of pure 22k gold and ancient gold granulation on the sides. Behind the ruby is a pure silver backsheet which brings out the color of the stone. Sterling silver ring band. The ruby is 14 x 11mm and 11.50 carats.

Signed on the back by the artist.

Available in whole, half and quarter sizes from 6 to 9 1/2.

Care of ring - wash with mild dish soap and dry with a lint free cloth. A silver polishing cloth will keep the silver bright - the gold keeps its luster. A silver polishing cloth is included with your order.
