A Brief History of Time

Metal Clock

(ID: A88885) One of a Kind
A somewhat surreal and ethereal scene sits atop a copy of Stephen Hawking's book and a copy of "Designing and Building a Grandfather Clock" by Gary Williams. Fourteen cast sterling silver figures wander through time on a cloud-like copper structure. Brass spheres evoke planets or heavenly bodies. The handmade copper clock has 24 copper spikes representing our earthly hours adding to the mysterious atmosphere of the piece. The clock and figures were colored with a dark patina then waxed to yield a permanent finish. The parts are bolted to the books. The books are glued and bolted shut. The clock contains a continuous sweep movement and is very quiet. It runs on an AA battery which is included with the piece.
