Passing the Hours
Visual puns are a specialty of artwork made by Winged Camel Metalworks and here is a prime example. Seventeen tiny, individually cast sterling silver figures are passing twelve onyx balls to each other. Nothing actually moves, but the piece projects imaginary motion. The quartz movement of the clock runs on a AA battery (included) and the copper cover hides the movement making the clock attractive from the back. The structure of the clock is fabricated from brass with a copper barrel to hold the clock movement. The ladder is fabricated from sterling silver. The entire piece is immersed in a liquid sulfurated potash solution to yield a dark patina. Once dry, the piece is waxed and the figures are polished.
