Wallpiece RCB 15.01
Metal Wall Sculpture
Created by
David M Bowman and Reed C Bowman
This wallpiece is fabricated from from three domed sheets of copper, fitted together with overlaps like chitin, patinaed with two layers of sculptural patinas applied by brush while heating the metal. The main gray color comes from a silver-bearing patina. The insert is of foldformed copper, and its rich red color is an effect of high heat on copper. Its cloth-like rumpled texture is a result of many rounds of heating, folding, hammering, unfolding, and so on.
This piece is made of thin copper, and is quite light weight, even compared to the artist's other wall pieces. It hangs on picture wire which is attached to the back in such a way that the wall piece can be hung at nearly any angle for different looks.
